Colby Gauthier
Colby brings experience in international nonprofit leadership, organizational governance, financial management, and public policy to his role as Founder of Prairie Strategies. His professional journey began with an international student-led organization, where he was inspired by the ability of volunteers and leaders from around the world to work together toward shared goals. What began as an interest in international collaboration developed into a commitment to organizational leadership, leading him to serve in progressively senior positions, including Program Administrator, Financial Director, and ultimately President.
As President, Colby was responsible for leading a medium-sized international nonprofit organization, working across borders to coordinate organizational priorities, support its leadership, and oversee its operations. Having also managed the organization’s finances and programs, he developed a practical understanding of the challenges involved in sustaining an organization with diverse stakeholders, limited resources, and ambitious objectives. He continues to contribute to its long-term direction through service on its Advisory Board.
Beyond his international leadership experience, Colby has worked in policy and research roles supporting nonprofit organizations in Manitoba, further developing his expertise in policy development, governance, and organizational problem-solving. These experiences revealed recurring challenges faced by organizations of all sizes and ultimately inspired him to establish Prairie Strategies. He founded the company with the conviction that smaller organizations deserve access to the same quality of professional support, strategic thinking, and organizational expertise available to larger institutions.
